Are you looking for a real treat and an extra cocktail of nutrients for your ritual moments?

Let yourself be enchanted by the genuinely chocolatey taste of our ceremonial cacao Pure. Pure, unsweetened and unflavoured cacao, packed with minerals (copper, manganese, magnesium, zinc, iron, etc.), flavonols, and antioxidants, will help you create unique moments of relaxation and physical and mental invigoration.

It is a source of theobromine and caffeine in a ratio that acts as a gently refreshing stimulant for the body, mind, and mood. The effect of these substances in cacao is slower but more lasting than coffee and induces calm and relaxed alertness.

According to traditional cultures, cacao is cooling in nature, accelerates convalescence, and generally strengthens. It has a beneficial effect on normal digestion. It is often recommended to facilitate childbirth and lactation, strengthens in old age, and acts as an aphrodisiac.

Immerse yourself in your cacao ceremony, experienced here and now, and support a conscious approach to every moment of life. Regardless of whether you participate in the ritual within a circle or just by yourself.

Achieve balance between relaxation and energy and open your heart to break down fears and anxieties, embrace your emotions, and restore inner harmony. Cacao awakens the creative side, so it is suitable before creative activities.

Our cacao comes from carefully harvested organic cacao beans and is very gently processed. We produce it in small batches right here at BEWIT.

Cacao – a precious food of the gods

Theobroma cacao is a tree originating from the tropical parts of South America. Today it is widespread throughout the tropical belt, widely cultivated in Africa (Ivory Coast, Ghana, Cameroon, and others). Its name means „food of the gods“. The fruits are about 30 cm long pods, which contain seeds inside called cacao beans. And it is from these that cacao, a raw material popular all over the world, is made.

What is ceremonial cacao?

Ceremonial cacao is intended for meditative ceremonies and rituals, whether you mean a morning moment just for yourself with a cup of a delicious drink, or special cacao circles. We make it with love from high-quality organic cacao beans that have undergone gentle processing to preserve the maximum amount of beneficial substances.

Cacao ceremonies originated in the 1990s in connection with the New Age movement. They loosely follow the traditions of Central American civilisations, such as the Mayans and Aztecs. For them, cacao was a sacred and ritual raw material. It was expensive, so it was only accessible to selected high-ranking men and also served as currency.

What is the difference between chocolate and 100% cacao mass?

Cacao mass consists exclusively of ground cacao beans. It can be used pure, e.g., as ceremonial cacao, or serve as a raw material for further processing, e.g., into chocolate. This is made from cacao mass, which is tempered and supplemented with sugar, or other added ingredients.

Method of use

Ceremonial cacao is traditionally prepared as a warm drink. Cut the cacao into smaller pieces with a ceramic knife and pour the desired amount of water, or plant-based milk or herbal or spice decoction over it.

Your chosen liquid should be between 70 and 80 °C to preserve as many beneficial substances as possible. To dissolve and simultaneously create a rich foam, use a whisk (if you have one, a traditional Mexican molinillo), a matcha whisk, or an immersion blender.

If needed, add sweetener to taste. For example, coconut sugar, stevia, or our Organic Dried Cane Juice, Unrefined, Date Powder, Organic or Carob Syrup, Organic are suitable.

There are no limits to combinations of flavours and intentions! Your ceremonial cacao will also be perfectly complemented by Maca, Organic RAW, Ceylon Cinnamon Powder, Lucuma – Powder, Organic or Whole Cloves.

Cacao is traditionally prepared with intention, in a space cleansed with incense (palo santo, white sage, copal, etc.), in the presence of the element of fire and music.

Dosage

For 200 ml of drink, you will need:

  • For beginners, children, and a milder tasting drink: 15–20 g
  • For full-flavoured cacao: 20–34 g
  • Ceremonial dose: 34–44 g
  • Generally recommended maximum daily dose: 50 g

Adhere to the recommended maximum daily dose, as you can overdose on cacao. Overdosing manifests as headache, very strong heart palpitations, and hand tremors. When drinking cacao, always maintain adequate fluid intake, as it is a diuretic.

Recommended storage

Store in a dry and dark place. Ideally at a temperature between 14–18 °C, maximum up to 24 °C, protect from temperature fluctuations. Once opened, keep in a tightly sealed container – food moths love cacao.

Warning

This product does not have a powdered consistency; it is a solid mass that needs to be cut or grated before use. It is not tempered chocolate. Fat blooms are natural and not a defect.

Due to the content of theobromine and caffeine in a combination whose effects can last up to 7 hours, we recommend drinking cacao rather in the morning.

People with low blood pressure, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and young children should consume cacao with caution, or consult a doctor.
