Replace it with our roasted carob powder in organic quality. Unlike the raw carob, the roasted version is darker and has a more intense taste with a bitter tinge. That's why it's the perfect cocoa substitute for baking and delicious drinks.
The great thing about carob is that it’s naturally free from caffeine and its close cousin, theobromine. Therefore, it is also suitable for children and people with a higher sensitivity to caffeine. It has a low glycemic index and is a source of minerals, vitamins and antioxidants.
It contains a high proportion of fibre, which has a beneficial effect on the condition of the digestive tract, promotes body cleansing and increases satiety, thus helping to maintain the ideal figure.
Use roasted carob wherever cocoa comes in handy. You can flavour and colour batters, puddings, ice creams, porridges and drinks with it. Just swap cocoa powder for the same amount of carob powder.
Carob, also known as St. John's bread, is the fruit of carob (Ceratonia siliqua). A mighty hardy tree that can grow for several centuries, it is native to the eastern Mediterranean. Its long, dark pods were used by the ancient Greeks and Egyptians.
The pods are ground into a fine powder, making a great alternative to cocoa or even flour. Immediately after harvesting, the inner parts and kernels are removed from the carob pods, the remaining parts are then ground into a fine powder using a very gentle process.
The name carob refers to the legend of St. John the Baptist who fed on carob fruits during his stay in the desert.
It serves as a alternative to cocoa when baking cakes, muffins, cookies or pastries. It’s also perfect for puddings, smoothies, or ice cream. By mixing it with warm milk, you’ll create a delicious drink. Just swap cocoa powder for the same amount of carob powder.

Tak to je opravdu mňamka. Posledně jsme měli na návštěvě malého chytrolínka a když jsme přišli vymrzlí z venku, vyslovil přání: " Teto, ty umíš všechno. Umíš taky doooobré kakao bez kakaa a mlíka od kraviček?" Jasně, že umím ;-)) Uvařila jsem vodu, rozšlehala do ní kokosové mléko a pražený karob v prášku a nahoru jsem na vzniklou pěnu nakapala karobový sirup. Nechutná přímo jako klasické kakao, ale je opravdu chuťově fantastické a super alternativa pro ty, kteří normální kakao nesnášejí nebo prostě nechtějí.
