Female cyclicity reflects the fact that a woman naturally goes through several phases during the month that are reflected in her emotions, energy and bodily processes, much like the phases of the moon or the seasons.

The first is the menstrual phase, a time of introspection and rest, quieting and focusing inward. It is referred to as the reflective or winter phase and corresponds to the archetype of the old woman or the psychic.
