Although our cinnamon tree essential oils are derived from plants of the same genus, their scents differ. While the aroma of Cinnamon Lawang (Cinnamomum culilawan) has smoky notes and Kassia (Cinnamomum cassia) is spicier, The aroma of the essential oil from the bark of the Ceylon cinnamon tree (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) is a little fresher, and from its leaves is herbaceous.
