About the author
Giovanni Maciocia (1945–2018) was an Italian-British
specialist, therapist and teacher of Traditional Chinese Medicine. During his
more than forty years of clinical practice and teaching, he has contributed
significantly to the understanding of TCM in the West. He was instrumental in
adapting traditional herbal mixtures to Western conditions, but also developed
new approaches based on traditional Chinese medicine to treat modern diseases
such as allergies, asthma and fatigue syndrome. He received a special honour for
a foreign author when his article was published in a Chinese medical journal. He
is considered the father of traditional Chinese medicine in Europe.
