How mango butter is made

Mango butter is produced by pressing the seeds of the Indian mango tree (Mangifera indica). Originating from South Asia, it is one of the longest cultivated fruit trees in the region. In its homeland, virtually the entire tree was traditionally used. It was considered sacred, and its planting could be seen as a meritorious religious act.

Inside the fruit, there is a hard stone with a kernel rich in fat. After separation from the pulp, the kernels are cleaned, dried, and pressed to obtain mango fat, which is also used in cosmetics. Subsequent refining removes stronger colours, scents, and undesirable impurities. The result is a light butter with a neutral aroma and a fine consistency, which easily combines with other cosmetic raw materials.

Creative tip – nourishing lip balm

Slowly melt 10 g of refined mango butter, 5 g of jojoba or almond oil and 3 g of rice bran wax in a bain-marie. Mix the blend, pour it into a clean jar or balm container, and let it solidify completely. Apply the balm to your lips as needed.
