process, which facilitates the absorption of naturally occurring
substances while helping to preserve the valuable content of chlorella. This
gives you a pure single-species powder without unnecessary
additives.

Chlorella pyrenoidosa – green superfood from the aquatic world
Chlorella pyrenoidosa is a single-celled freshwater green
microalga. Its tiny spherical cells contain chlorophyll, which gives it
its characteristic deep green colour and allows it to utilise sunlight for
photosynthesis.
The genus Chlorella was scientifically described by the Dutch microbiologist
Martinus Willem Beijerinck in 1890. Although science has known it for just over
a hundred years, its evolutionary roots go incomparably deeper – green algae
belong to very old groups of organisms whose history spans hundreds of
millions of years.
It is considered a source of valuable substances. Among
minerals, these are primarily iron, iodine, manganese, phosphorus, and selenium.
It naturally contains vitamins D, B1, B3, and B12. It also contains
chlorophylls, carotenes, proteins, and more.
Health claims from the so-called On Hold list – Chlorella
pyrenoidosa:
- normal function of the intestinal tract, microbial balance,
- antioxidant,
- normal liver activity,
- natural immunity,
- cleansing,
- normal digestion
The On Hold list is a list of substances and their health-related claims that
have been submitted to EFSA for assessment, but EFSA has not yet issued a
scientific opinion or the EC has not yet issued a decision. Please note that
these claims are temporary.
From pure culture to organic powder
For its growth, chlorella needs sufficient sunlight, heat, nutrients, and
above all, clean water. The environment in which it is produced
therefore plays an important role in the quality of the resulting raw material.
The algae used in our product are grown in controlled special tanks that allow
for the maintenance of organic cultivation conditions while
protecting the culture from undesirable contamination from the surrounding
environment, including heavy metals.
Once it reaches full maturity, its processing begins. Individual cells
naturally have a strong cell wall. Therefore, they undergo a
disintegration process in which the cell walls are
intentionally broken down. This makes the substances hidden inside the cells
more accessible to the body, while the nutritional content of chlorella itself
is maximally preserved.
Not all chlorella is the same
Chlorella is available in two species. At first glance,
Chlorella pyrenoidosa and Chlorella vulgaris are very similar.
Both are single-celled green microalgae, and both are used as nutritionally
valuable foods. However, they differ in some details of their composition.
Chlorella pyrenoidosa contains a higher proportion of highly
branched polysaccharides. These are one of the characteristic
differences between the two variants and can also affect how well a given type
of chlorella suits you in terms of digestion. If you are prone
to constipation or have more sensitive digestion, Chlorella pyrenoidosa
may not always be the first choice, while in other cases it may be an
advantage.
Smaller differences may also exist in the content of proteins and other
naturally occurring nutrients. Their specific amounts are also influenced by the
method of cultivation and processing. Therefore, when choosing, it is worth
looking not only at the species name but also at the actual composition of the
specific product.
