How ricin oil is made
Cold-pressed ORGANIC castor oil is extracted from the seeds of castor
bean plant (Ricinus communis). In warmer regions, the plant is
grown not only for its oil, but also as an unpretentious ornamental flower with
striking red to reddish-brown flowers.
The seeds of the castor plant contain ricin, a highly toxic
substance. However, castor oil itself is not poisonous. Thanks to careful
processing involving cold pressing and subsequent multi-stage filtration,
is completely safe for external use.
The key ingredient is ricinoleic acid, which is unique to
this particular oil and gives it its typical thick consistency as well as its
strong moisturizing effects.
In India, castor oil has been used for thousands of years, especially in
