History
Nigella sativa as one of the most powerful plants in
the world
Nigella sativa, also known as black cumin, is an herb with a long
history. Recipes or the effects themselves related to this
„heavenly herb“ can be found in ancient writings of Chinese
and Tibetan medicine. Ayurvedic doctors even consider Nigella sativa to be one
of the most powerful plants in the world.
The black gold of the pharaohs
Due to its beneficial effects, the dark oil obtained from the seeds of this
plant was particularly valued in ancient Egypt. For Cleopatra, it
was an indispensable part of beauty rituals, and Hippocrates
himself highlighted its therapeutic properties. Black cumin seed oil
thus represented a truly luxurious affair, earning it the name
„the black gold of the pharaohs“.
Origin and cultivation
Tiny black seeds are the raw material for oil production
Nigella sativa is an annual herb originating from Southeast Asia, where it
still thrives. It grows up to 60 cm tall and blooms with striking
yellow, pink, or light blue flowers. The fruits of Nigella are large
swollen capsules containing tiny black seeds. These are harvested at
their full maturity and represent the raw material for the production
of black cumin seed oil.
Composition and properties
It is an edible, single-variety oil of a thicker consistency, which mainly
contains unsaturated fatty acids. Thanks to its substances, the oil has a darker
colour and a more pronounced aroma, in which its uniqueness lies.
Thanks to cold pressing, we preserve the maximum amount of beneficial
substances for the body in the oil
We adjust the oil pressing process so that the temperature of the
pressed oil during production remains close to 42 °C. This prevents
the loss of heat-labile substances and unnecessary degradation of the resulting
oil. It is therefore a RAW, cold-pressed oil.
We produce the oil in our manufacturing plant
We produce black cumin seed oil with care and love in our manufacturing plant
in Ostrava. The seeds originate from India.
