ASTROPHYLLITE

The meaning of the name of this stone has two parts, the first part „astro“ comes from the Greek word „astron“, meaning star, the second part of the name „phyllite“ comes from the Greek word „phyllom“, translated, leaf. Taken together, then, we understand the meaning as „star leaf“, the stone is unusually pronounced. Astrophyllites have an unusual structure, rough stones often occur in star-shaped groups.

The raw natural stone is very beautiful as it has a beautiful coppery bronze colour, which reflects the light. Astrophyllite is a very rare mineral containing potassium, iron, titanium, manganese, sodium. It crystallizes in the form of crystals with a fine edge. HISTORY OF ASTRPYHLLITE

Astrophyllite was originally discovered in 1844 on the island of Laven in Norway by Paul Christian Weiby. It was then not officially accepted into the scientific community until 10 years later, when Carl Johan August Theodor Scheerer officially named it „Astrophyllite“. He chose the name because of its physical properties and also because of the Greek words „Astron“ and „Phyllon“, meaning „star“ and „leaf“.
