Homalomena (Homalomena aromatica) is an aromatic perennial herb
commonly found in Assam and adjacent states of the sub-Himalayan region of
India. The resulting essential oil is extracted from its flowers by a
gentle process, steam distillation.

The name sugandha comes from Hindi and its literal translation is
„aroma“. You may also come across the name „Gandhi roots“ i.e.
Gandhi's rhizomes. In China, homalomena is referred to as „qian nian jian“,
