Interesting Fact
Citronella essential oil has a similar aroma to „Melissa“ essential oil
and is often used as a more affordable alternative.
Citronella is not Lemongrass
Citronella and lemongrass are similar in scent and effects, yet they differ
in several respects. Citronella (Cymbopogon nardus) has a distinctly
sharper, fresh, and slightly pungent scent with an herbal-spicy undertone, while
lemongrass
(Cymbopogon flexuosus) smells softer, more citrusy, and slightly sweet.
Both oils bring freshness, natural protection, and a feeling of cleanliness, but
citronella offers more protection, while lemongrass is more stimulating.
