Kewra, (Screw pine, Palau fruit) (Pandanus odoratissimus) is a showy palm tree that grows through tropical vegetation. The much prized essential oil is extracted from its flowers by a gentle process, steam distillation.
Did you know?
Kewra flowers must only be picked early in the morning, as after flowering they lose their fragrance very quickly. The correct timing of the harvest becomes a crucial step.
Ingredients?
Kewra essential oil is a natural cocktail of hundreds of biologically active substances. However, the key substances are considered to be Phenyl Ethyl Methyl Ether (PEME).
